
Spreading awareness of Fragile X syndrome
In celebration of Fragile X Awareness Day, CAN faculty members Dr. Jane Roberts and Dr. Jessica Klusek advocated at the South Carolina State House.
Headed by Jane Roberts (Department of Psychology) and Jeff Twiss (Department of Biological Sciences), this initiative aims to build a multi-disciplinary, collaborative center for basic, clinical, and intervention research and education in autism and neurodevelopmental disorders at the University of South Carolina.

TRAINEE SPOTLIGHT - AWARD
Irene Dalla Costa | Graduate Student | Dept. of Biological Sciences | College of Arts and Sciences
Irene Dalla Costa, a graduate student reserching the regulation of translation in axons in Dr. Jeff Twiss' lab, is this year's recipient of the Kathryn Hinnant-Johnson, M.D. Memorial Fellowship. This annual honor is bestowed upon a Ph.D. student in the Department of Biological Sciences who is conducting research in an area of genetics.
